  MG & Triumph 100, Silverstone (June10－June11) レポート  
  　2023年６月10日(土)～11日(日)英国シルバーストーンサーキットで開催されたMGとTriumphの創業100周年を祝うフェスティバル（以下：MG100）に猪子さん、辻村さん、水野さん、村田さんと一緒に出かけて参りました。
　6月8日(木)ブリティッシュエアウェイズで一路英国へフライトし、ヒースロー空港近くに一泊。９日(金)レンタカーで田園が広がるコッツウォルズを観光しながらシルバーストーンサーキットへ移動。レーシングコースのピット前つまりメインスタンドに隣接するヒルトン・ガーデン・イン・シルバーストーンに逗留しました。ここで神戸MGカークラブの新家会長と合流し、夕食を共にしながら明日からのイベントへの期待が高まって互いに話が尽きませんでした。
　10日(土)いよいよMG 100の開幕です。２日間通しの入場パスとガイドブックを片手に、神戸、九州のメンバーとはお昼に集合と申し合わせて夫々が一斉に見学に出発しました。開会式、各クラスのレース（予選）、シルバーストーンサーキットのパドックや各レジスター専用パーキングに展示されているあらゆる年代のおびただしいMGとTriumphやライブミュージックショーも観て、オートジャンブルでは現地でしか手に入らないお宝部品をお値打ち￡で手に入れ、MGの仲間達と片言の英語で交流するなど楽しみました。また予想外の暑さの中、屋外で冷たいビールとフィシュ＆チップスを頂くなど英国らしさも満喫しました。
　開催初日10日の夜はMGCC UK Overseas DirectorのPeter Cookさんによる海外ビジター歓迎夕食会が The Star Inn Sulgraveという英国の伝統的な家族経営の老舗パブレストラン/B&Bで開催され、嬉しい事にMGCC UK PresidentのJohn Dayさんも出席されました。神戸の新家会長が日本ビジターを代表して、またオーストラリア、ニュージーランドの各代表も挨拶されました。名古屋MGカークラブからは、猪子さんが一手に担い運んでくれたMGエンブレムの焼き印入り両口屋是清の千なり（重い?）とクラブ名が入った日本手ぬぐいをBritish、Australian、New zealanderの会員に、John Dayさんへは羽織もプレゼントして共に好評を博しました。また、豪州ゴールド・コーストMGカークラブのDavid Godwinさんから名古屋で開催するツィードミーティングに出来れば参加したいと希望があり歓迎の意を伝えました。
　11日(日)午前はホテルレストランのテラスから飲み物片手にMGCC Cup決勝レースを観戦。最終コーナーでのギリギリの競り合い、直ぐさまメインストレート目掛けてフルスロットルで加速していくMGのエンジン音がサーキットに響いて最高でした。我々と同じ車（勿論レース仕様ですが）があんなに元気に疾走する姿を観て、表現し難い興奮に包まれる贅沢な時間でした。午後は、サーキットへ降りてピットロード横のパドックで整備中のレースカーを間近に見たりして、最終のGTSCC決勝レースの観戦を終えるとあっという間に夢のような二日間が過ぎていました。
　12日(月)午前は、Abingdon on ThamesにあるKimber Houseを５人で訪問。実はMG100のため閉館だったのですが、MG100の片づけに来ていたスタッフのIneke Shermanさんが快く招き入れてくれました。彼女は展示物の説明や古い写真を倉庫から持ってきて見せてくれたり、近くにMGの公園があると教えてくれたり、忙しい中でもとても親切にして頂きました。1時間余り滞在してPeterさん企画のMG Oxford tourのため移動しました。
　Redbridge Park & RideでPeterさんと合流してWilliam Richard Morris（後のNuffield子爵）が若くして始めた自転車製造・修理店だった店舗跡、その後に興したモータサイクルと自動車のサービス工場（外観は綺麗に保存されてOxfordの観光名所の一つで内側はNew Collegeの現代的な学生宿泊施設）、Morris Motor時代のショウルームだった３階建ての店舗、MG設立後の石造りのセールルーム（今は裁判所）を見学。最後にはMorrisが土地を寄付して1945年に設立されたOxford大学の大学院大学であるNuffield Collegeを訪問して締めくくりました。Peterさんへは深くお礼を申し上げ、再会を約束してお別れいたしました。
　今回のMG100、夕食会、Kimber HouseおよびMG Oxford tourを通して、「MGを楽しみ、クラブの伝統を認識し、会員同士の友情を育み、ひとり一人が世界のＭＧ愛好家コミュニティの一員であると意識出来る」、MGCC UKのモットーであるThe Marque of Friendshipを感ぜずにはいられない充実した英国の旅となりました。

   MG & Triumph 100, Silverstone (June10－June11) report  
   I went to the 100th anniversary festival of MG and Triumph (hereafter: MG100) held at the Silverstone circuit in England on June 10th (Sat) and 11th (Sun), 2023, along with Mr. Inoko, Mr. Tsujimura, Mr. Mizuno and Mr. Murata.
 The 10th (Sat) is finally the start of the MG 100. With a 2-day pass and a guidebook in hand, we arranged to meet at noon with the members from Kobe and Kyushu, and set off for the tour all at once. We enjoyed watching the opening ceremony, the races of each class (qualifying), a lots of MG’s and Triumph’s cars display from all eras and live music shows. Someone got treasure parts at a bargain price and interacted with MG colleagues as not well at English. In the unexpected heat, I had a cold beer and fish and chips outdoors, and enjoyed of Britishness.
 On the evening of the 10th, MGCC UK Overseas Director Mr. Peter Cook hosted a welcome dinner for overseas visitors at The Star Inn Sulgrave which is a traditional British family-run pub restaurant/B&B. It was a pleasure to have MGCC UK President John Day in attendance. Kobe MGCC President Mr. Shinya gave our greetings. From the Nagoya MG Car Club, members of the British, Australian, and New Zealander clubs received Ryoguchiya Korekiyo Sennari with the MG emblem branded on their shoulders and Japanese hand towels with the club name. In addition, Mr. John Day received a Haori as a gift, which was well received. It was a pleasure for us. Mr. David Godwin of the Gold Coast MG Car Club said that would like to go to the Tweed meeting (Nagoya)
 On the morning of the 11th (Sunday), we watched the MGCC Cup final race with some drink from the hotel restaurant terrace. It was great to hear the sound of the MG's engine accelerating at full throttle toward the main straight as it raced to the limit at the final corner. Seeing the same car as us (of course, race specification) running so energetically was a luxurious time filled with excitement. In the afternoon, I went down to the circuit and looked closely at the race cars under maintenance in the paddock. After watching the GTSCC final race, the two days passed like a dream.
On the morning of the 12th (Monday), five of us visited Kimber House in Abingdon on Thames. Actually, the museum was closed due to MG100, but Miss. Ineke Sherman, a staff member who had kindly invited us in. She explained the exhibits, brought old photos from the warehouse to show us, and told us that there is an MG park nearby.
 In the afternoon, Mr. Peter guided us around the remains of a bicycle manufacturing and repair shop that William Richard Morris (later Viscount Nuffield) started when he was young. Later built motorcycle and car service factory (one of the well-preserved exteriors and one of Oxford's tourist attractions, inside is New College's modern student accommodation), a three-storey building that was a Morris Motor-era showroom, MG era sale room (now a courthouse). The tour ended with a visit to Nuffield College, Oxford University's graduate school founded in 1945 with Morris donating land. We thanked Peter and parted with a promise to meet again one day.
 Through the MG100, dinner party, Kimber House and MG Oxford tour, MGCC will be able to enjoy MG, recognize the club's traditions, foster friendships among members, and feel that each and every one of them is a member of the global MG enthusiast community. It was a fulfilling trip to the UK where I could not resist feel The Marque of Friendship.
